Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, college-level history courses, such as U.S. To teach History, World Civilizations and Asian and Pacific history.
  • Develop curriculum with colleagues and independently, and plan learning strategies that meet the needs of students, special populations, the college, and the community.
  • Other related duties may be assigned, such as advising and counselling students, assisting in campus-related faculty and student activities, participating in self-development activities, program review, assessment, and course and program development. 
  • Whatever additional duties are assigned, they must be performed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in History

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Teaching experience in a community college or university setting, especially in the subjects of Hawaiian, Asian, and Pacific History.
  2. Substantial coursework in the subjects of Hawaiian, Asian, and Pacific History and world cultures/world history.
  3. Experience in designing History curriculum.
  4. Ability to work in teamwork and effective communication skills.
  5. Experience of guiding students’ research and writing.
  6. Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  7. Distance learning experience, including synchronous and asynchronous online classes and cable-based courses.
