Faculty engage in outreach efforts, such as transforming campus gardens to celebrate Great Lakes native plants and pollinator diversity, aligning with the Bee Campus USA initiative. SUNY Oswego collaborates with the Great Lakes Northern Forest Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, fostering research partnerships and funding opportunities.

Compensation

Responsibilities

The Assistant Professor of Botany will teach courses such as Plant Kingdom, Evolution, and Plant Systematics, along with topics in their specialty. Responsibilities also include undergraduate research, advising, and service contributions.

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Botany (to be completed by the appointment date) with a focus on utilising and enhancing resources such as the greenhouse, herbarium, and Rice Creek Field Station.
• Experience with adaptable techniques for undergraduate teaching and research.
• Strong dedication to teaching excellence, scholarship, and service, with a commitment to providing meaningful learning experiences through inclusive pedagogy for diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Expertise in areas such as plant systematics, plant evolution, phytogeography, and pale botany.
2. Post-doctoral research experience.
3. Teaching experience and skills in securing grants.
